My rise to the bottom
Feb 23 2010, 6:48 AM EST
Am just starting this thread in the hope that it will help keep me motivated and possibly everybody else.As we all know the bike is a wonderfull way of keeping fit also a great way to de' stress but it can also go the other way (as I know all too well). The first the you got to remember is who and what you are doing it for (yourself and the sheer delight of beating your last time in a TT ,beating the other guy who is always beating you lets face it we all do that that what makes us tick), and also remember listen to your body EXTREMLEY important (been there too). Enjoy it try and keep a good sense of humor it makes it lots easier and keep away from negative situations and people you will get dragged down. Enough of the counciling now!!! Liam when can we get some smiley faces on tap it could add a little crack to an odd reply maybe its not on this package? I started back training there in late January OMG I got a shock. I suppose 1stone heavier don't really help much part of the reason I started back. I met Wesely Moore one day he nearly tore the legs of me but i persisted then went out one Saturday morning with the lads got another hiding boo! hoo!. Been keepin at it since about 3 or 4 times a week. Was out there on Sunday christ my legs were ***** must have been the cold weather cos when I started I was grand but had a good decent and was foundered never was right after it wanted to do 2hrs but was in such bad shape only could manage 1hr 45min phew!. Went out yesterday holy moly I think I got a new engine in me sun was out ya see not just as cold by god it felt satisfying when I was finished. Now people can reply to this also can start their own just to add a bit of crack tay it all a wee bit of slagging+banter but ABSOLUTLEY!!!! no malicous those replies will be removed. So come on have a bit of crack folks and all the best to everyone and have a good season plenty of PBs. Do you find this valuable? |

Sunday now was out with a few of the lads this morn left from aura. Beautiful morning did the Ramelton Ray bridge route across into kilmacrennan. Unfortunatly John Cannon punctured just outside the entrance to Fernhill house. I went back to get him changed the puncture and got on our merry ways. We rode good and hard to try and catch the rest of the group but to no avail. At Ballybolauder John told me to carry on to catch the rest of them as his legs were cooked and he wanted to ride at his own pace. I just rode nice and steady and I just saw them going into the aura and I caught up with a young Connor Brennan a right fit young fella. me legs were a bit tired today probably cos I did'nt ride yesterday but sure an auld fella like me needs an nod day off but am better than I was a month ago just have to keep on pluging at it.

yeah missed the meeting (wee girls comunnion meeting) but a 6 hour training programme could be good ya don't need huge junk miles to race short distance's such as 10's and short club races so start yourself a new thread now today weegee and get yourself on track you will be surprised how quick you will come on. Anyway just back meself from an hour well 58 mins to be exact now bearing in mind 1 month ago this spin would have taken me just over 1hr 5min so I'm startin to come around. Even when I was goin good it used to take me the hour. I just kept it in zone 2 the upper end of it. It seems to be agreeing with me so far. What a day though work was'nt too bad but me car was up for the test had it parked in the catherdral carpark . When i went back for it after work a funeral and a few cars had me fookin blocked in. Had to ring the NCT crowd to let them know I would'nt make it but htey told me to come out . The dirty bollox failed me 2 back coilsprings were broke blommin retest now ahh well could be worse I'll get it sorted.

well folks I was out yesterday for an hour and a half or so up as far as raphoe and back what a glorious day I loved every pedal stroke. It makes it soooooo much easier when the weather is like that. Im still able to go out nice and steady a high level 2 without any stress don't know why cos I could not have kept that up before maybe the few months of doing nothing atall has helped???. Anyway on a more serious note I wish to offer my deepest sympathises to Cathal O' Rahalliagh on the death of his wife Ena.

This is Monday was out today for a spin when I met up with Adam Speer now I got my first taste of some threshold stuff. We went up the back side of the mountain top I was sitting at threshold for the whole way up not too long but when ya haven't been at it for about 6 months it was quite a shock to the system. God I was glad to see the top of it. To make me feel worse he told me he had done a 50mile tt yesterday he is as fit as a fiddle. A couple of nice easy days now and I hope to have brought it up a notch me legs are responding not too bad. I was planning on going out ystday morning but was at a party the night before so I was a bit worse for the wear.

Don't know about that good a shape Pat but I'll give it a rattle anyway. Imeant to fill this in on Wednesday but been flat to the mat since I trained last that was on Wednesday 1hr 30 at a good brisk pacebut towards the end me legs were hurtin a bit so I pedaled a smaller gear like an egg beater to keep goin. Maybe now is time to take it easy for a week to recover. This is Saturday so I will get out tomorrow for a little bit but as its mothers day I will be goin out early to get back as I'm goin out for dinner early.

A day late here again cripes everything is hectic at the moment. Well I was out yesterday for about 3hrs(just a wee bit over) but I had to leave early as I had to be back early as I was going to dinner at 1.30 so a little bit of a rush when I got home. I think its time for an easy week as I found me legs a bit tired I was not too bad but I could tell they did'nt want to respond the way I wanted them to. my avg hr when I finished was only 134bpm. Might go on the beer for the week now!!! I think 3hrs is any amount of training for club races. See youse all on Sunday chaps.
