The 2012 Knockalla Tour is set for Easter Monday, 9th April. The Four Masters CC Knockalla Tour 2012 guarantees to be bigger and better than last year.
Based in the Letterkenny Community Centre sign on will open from 8.45am on the morning of the event with one mass start at 10.00am. Like last year this tour will have a controlled pace until the base of the magnificent Knockalla climb.
Leaving the Leisure Centre in Letterkenny the route takes you to Kilmacrennan via Trentagh. From Kilmacrennan you will go towards Cresslough where you will turn right just before you enter the town of Cresslough and cycle toward Carrigart.
Leaving Carrigart village you will head over the Mulroy Bridge where you will enter Fanad Head. From here you will travel through some of fanads small villages before arriving in Portsalon where you will get the view of the Knockalla Mountain rising out of the Atlantic Ocean.
Once you reach the base of Knockalla the pace car will pull over to let everyone take on this famous climb at there own pace.
Once over the climb its on towards Rathmullan, then Ramelton and back towards Letterkenny. This years event is app 80 miles, but apart from Mulroy Bridge and Knockalla this is a mostly flat circuit. There will be ample support vehicles on the route. The entry fee is €10.00 for CI members and €12.00 for non CI Members. Remember you must produce your licence at sign on, or have your licence verified by your club. Helmets must be worn by all.
Showers will be available in The Community centre at the finish where light refreshments will also be served.
