| fourmasters racing.........tomo wend "st patricks day" sees our club junior pauric mc cafferty pull on his first ulster cycling jersey ,as pauric is competing as a six man junior team in dunboyne gp ,the club would like to wish pauric best wishes as we know pauric will give a good fourmasters account of himself in his ulster jersey.......................a full race update will follow. Four Masters racing... This weekend "13/14th march"seen four masters race team away to "clonard gp westmeath" and "p.j logan cup coalisland",jason black headed to clonard gp on saturday for a 100km race ,200 riders signed on.it was a scratch race with A4 set of first by 7min over the A3 cats of next with 5 mins on the A1/2 ,jason set of with the A1/2s ,were they caught the A3,but couldnt catch the A4s.the A4s got home by2mins over the chasin main bunch ,the main bunch was fast with avg speed of 24.8 mph and a bunch sprint finish was aggressive and jocking for position .jason got in with a good result bagging 5th 3rd cat,great workout and steady progress on his return to competitive racing. On sunday eddie ciaran and shaun stewart pauric mc cafferty gavin harris and cormac keeney headed to coalisland to take part in the "pj logan cup".first off was the A4s in a seperate race at 11am,a circuit of 60 kms ,gavin and cormac partook and handled the pace with ease,and as the race unfolded the 2 guys gave a great account of them selfs with cormac attacking on several occasions and eventually finishing very strong in the bunch and gavin just losin touch with the bunch in the final lap yet finished strong"great weekly progress gavin",and weldone cormac on his first competitive race. @ 1pm saw the 100km main race with the 4 fourmasters starting with the A3/juniors with a scratch of 5min on the chasing A1/2s,the course was testing & technical ,the reported pace was 18mph for the first half of the race until the A1/2s caught up and the speed quickly picked up ," riders got away followed by afuther 6 riders ,the fourmasters put in a great work load at the front ,with the main bunch comming in 2 min behind the small leading break with an avg speed of 21mph.with again a heated bunch sprint the 4 masters riders contested well all finishing in the top 20 and gave an excellent account of themselfs ,the riders reported that the race was strange difficult and technical.weldone to the riders... next weekend "20th march" fourmasters race team are away to the sought after 100km markievicz cup in sligo. sunday 21st march, Four Masters will be hosting the national event, "tinney john deere national classic". (please note all club members are expected to be on hand to help run this event) Four Masters race team win @ Navan... winner "ciaran o sullivan"......... Please note all riders need to wear there full Four masters clothing at races, now available @ cycling pursuits raphoe (ask Michael).all club clothing is sold at cost price to members. Just to say on behalf of all the Swords lads that we had a great weekends racing. The race was well organised with plenty of stewards throughout the course and made safe for all the riders. Well done to all concerned and thanks again.
